DATA ANALYTICS BOOTCAMP DAY-5
Gradually we're moving forward, we stop at Data types and Cell formatting.
Day-5 we learn Formula & Function and Simple Arithmetic. We learn the difference and how it's work in Excel.
WHAT IS FORMULA
In simple term formula is any mathematical expression that use a mathematics symbols to get a specific result. Example: Cell A1 you insert 2, Cell B1 is 3, Cell C1 is 6, and ask you to adding them, by using formula.
• Click on the total cell
• Press Equal To (=)
• =A1+B1+C1 (2+3+6=) enter
• Done ✅
WHAT IS FUNCTION
Is a pre-define a formula in Excel. Formula is expression that you insert or give to the computer, but function is already given the name to each function, just what you need to do is to call that function name to do the task. Now how can we call the name of the function? To do the task
TO CALL A FUNCTION
• You should press Equals sign (=)
• Type the name of the function (Eg: Sum for Addition, Percentage etc)
• click Open Bracket sign "("
• after finishing inserting the data clink close bracket sign ")"
• =Sum(A1:C1)
• click Enter
• Done ✅
(NB: Only addition has the function in Excel, the remaining arithmetic sign doesn't have)
SIMPLE ARITHMETIC
The below image shows Simple Arithmetic of the State with the numbers of Boys, Girls, Men & Women..
In the template shows the Total Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication & Division.
Let start with addition ➕: you know addition has two ways of summing of the data, by function and by formula
By formula
• =A1+B1+C1 or =A1+A2+A3 etc
By function
• =Sum(A1:C1) or =Sum(A1:A3)
With these simple arithmetic you can create a template of your business or something like that, it just to insert the data into the template the may give you the result without error unless you insert wrong data.
